Underbelly

Cincinnati Magazine‘s 2009 pick for “Best Comedy Show,” Underbelly is a raucous blend of improv, sketches, poetry and music that features the area’s best stand-up comedians doing everything except stand-up comedy. It’s fitting that the strangest comedy show in town has also become one of Cincinnati’s hottest tickets, as Underbelly plays to sold-out crowds every month at Newport KY’s historic Southgate House. Underbelly isn’t for everyone… But then again, the best things in life usually aren’t.

Some of our regular performers have appeared on Comedy Central and The Bob & Tom Show. We’ve also been fortunate enough to have had guest appearances by national headlining acts Greg “Fluteman” Warren and Drew Hastings. Underbelly served as the nucleus for Alex Stone and Mike Cronin’s new web series, “Web Series,” and the wildly popular “Suburban Housewife” rap videos created by cast member Sally Brooks.

Underbelly is held on the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are only $5 for ages 21+ and just $8 for attendees aged 18-20. Arriving early is highly recommended the Southgate House’s parlour room tends to fill up very quickly. We’ve had to turn away audience members at the last few shows because the room was simply too packed to let anyone else in.
